Our generators are currently wind and solar plants.  They supply us with clean, renewable electricity which we sell on to our customers.  We buy renewable power that is owned by communities, co-operatives or citizens, and sell that electricity to our customers.

We are relatively unique in Ireland because we offer medium sized generators the opportunity to trade on the Integrated Single Electricity Market (I-SEM). If you have a renewable generator, approximately 50 Kw or greater and you would like to sell your power to Community Power, we can offer a fair Power Purchase Agreement. Or if you or your organisation is exploring ‘on site’ renewable generation, and have a requirement for a licenced supply company, we can help.

Our current generators are wind and hydro.  You can watch some of their stories below.

Our future generation projects will be solar.  In 2020 we are planning to grow our renewable generation capacity by building up to three solar farms in Galway, Mayo and Tipperary.  Our intention is to take part in the first auction of the Renewable Electricity Support Scheme (RESS) which is due to be held in July 2020.  This scheme will provide support for the sale of solar electricity to the Irish market for the first time. Ownership of these solar farms will be open to the communities and citizens of Ireland, with priority to those living nearby, to allow all to share in the returns and benefits of renewable energy.  Each solar farm will be developed as individual legal entities, and all will be built on co-operative principles based on voluntary and open participation, will be autonomous and will be effectively controlled by shareholders or members that are located nearby.

We are looking for communities and people who share in our vision of community and citizen owned renewable energy in Ireland, and want to own a share in a solar farm in Ireland.

Community Solar Tipperary

Community Power Tipperary is seeking co-owners for a 4-5WM solar farm near Nenagh.  We are looking for people who share in our vision of community and citizen owned renewable energy for Ireland.  If you are an interested person, or community, please fill in your details and pay the deposit of €50 today by clicking PAY DEPOSIT below.

This solar farm has a grid connection and is pending planning permission (a decision was due in mid March 2020).  If for any reason planning permission is not granted in time for us to participate in the first RESS auction, your deposit will be returned and we will get ready to participate in the second RESS auction.

If we are successful in the RESS Auction, you will be asked to convert your €50 into a share of the legal company to develop the solar farm. The price of a share will be set at €1,000 which we expect will become due in July 2020. If you change your mind about becoming a shareholder, that will not be a problem. We will refund your €50 deposit.
