You are eligible to receive the electricity credits if you are a domestic customer (classified as DG1 (urban domestic customer) or DG2 (rural domestic customer)), registered with an electricity supplier in the Republic of Ireland with a unique Meter Point Registration Number (MPRN) and have used over 150kWh of energy in at least one quarter between 1 September 2023 and 31 August 2024.
If you are a domestic customer with a unique MPRN, but your account is identified as being low usage electricity (i.e. has used less than 150kWh of energy in every quarter between 1 September 2023 and 31 August 2024), you may still be eligible to receive the credits if:
- you are, or are eligible to be, a registered vulnerable customer, and/or
- you are a hardship meter account holder, and/or
- your supplier is satisfied that the MPRN address is the account holder’s primary residence.
If you have a microgeneration account registered on the effective date (30 October 2024 for the first payment period, and 20 December 2024 for the second payment period) and your maximum export capacity (MEC) is above zero, you will not be included on the low usage list and you will therefore receive the credit.
Under the Act of 2024, if you are eligible to register as a vulnerable customer, you qualify for the credits whether you choose to be included on the vulnerable customer register.
